5. The Walt Whitman House

A visit to Camden isn’t complete without a tour of the Walt Whitman House. Built in1848, this was the only home ever owned by the famous poet.

In this house, Whitman wrote Leaves of Grass and finished his final collection of poetry before his death. Today, the Walt Whitman House is a National Historic Landmark and an official New Jersey State Historic Site.
